Cryptocurrency: Risks, Opportunities and Challenges
Cryptocurrencies and other forms of digital assets has had a significant spotlight across the headlines and social media over the past few years. Driving much of the popularity garnered by cryptocurrencies has been it's tremendous growth and capital appreciation. With more and more investors either seeking to buy into cryptocurrencies or making enquiries about its benefits and pitfalls as a potential investment, this webinar hopes to educate and discuss what are cryptocurrencies and what value do they present, implications surrounding cryptocurrencies in trusts, and how regulations around taxation kept up with cryptocurrencies.

This webinar is brought to you by the Financial Planning Department here at Deakin University. Peter Vuong is an academic in Deakin's Financial Planning Department and has a background in finance, accounting, and mathematical modelling (number theory and cryptography). Adam Steen is a Professor Of Practice at Deakin University and has experience at several leading Australian and International Business Schools and the World Bank. Karen Powell is a Senior Lecturer in the Deakin Law School, focusing on taxation and regulatory frameworks that interact to shape an economic environment that either spurs or constricts certain highly regulated markets and their subsequent effect on consumer behaviour.
