Introducing: ‘Working with Men and Boys for Social Justice Assessment Tool'
Team: Amanda Keddie, Michael Flood, Shelley Hewson-Munro, Maria Delaney, Anna Halafoff

There are now many programs that focus on creating more respectful, caring and inclusive men and boys. These programs are important especially given the renewed attention to gender-based violence and the harms of this violence for women, children and other men. However, they may not necessarily support social and gender justice.

The Working with Men and Boys for Social Justice Assessment Tool has been developed to support leaders, designers and facilitators of programs for boys and men to evaluate the social and gender justice capacities of their program.

The Tool’s design is informed by research and practice in the areas of social justice, gender studies and the critical sociology of men and masculinities. It has been developed in conjunction with practitioners in the field and is intended for use primarily by organisations and advocates seeking to assess and improve their own work with men and boys.

Join us to hear about the development of the Tool and the principles that support it. The conversation will lay the groundwork for how you and your organisation can use the Tool to refine, develop and sustain your program.

This event and Tool are only the start. To support programs, we are providing a range of optional follow-up engagements:

• Access to a briefing paper – which will lay out the evidence informing the Tool.
• Providing one to one consultation – we will work with interested program leaders and facilitators to consider how they might use and modify the Tool in ways that support social and gender justice in their contexts.
• Hosting a workshop – the team will host a workshop in early 2023 for programs to come together and discuss their experiences with the Tool.

Please register your interest in these follow-up engagements when you register below.
